My thanks to Tim Young for having me back on Deconstructing Comics to chat about Zoe Thorogood’s The Impending Blindness of Billie Scott.
The main part of the podcast features an interview between Tim and Zoe Thorogood, which I’d encourage you to listen to. The second half features myself and Tim talking about our impressions of the book.
I was intrigued when Tim invited me on to talk about this story, as he mentioned it was Thorogood’s delight at her upcoming book that attracted his attention.
This is a story about living with a disability, the importance of art and the vulnerability of the unhoused. I also compare Thorogood to work by Bryan Talbot and Neil Gaiman, particularly their works on living rough in London. So there was plenty for us to chew on here.
